Assemble by 6:30 AM at the designated SkyGlobals assembly point in Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun. Board your private mountain vehicle and begin the ascent into the lower Garhwal Himalayas. Route past the Mussoorie bypass with a brief stop near Kempty Falls. Follow the winding banks of the Yamuna River through Nainbagh, Damta, and Naugaon. Stop at the government administrative checkpoint to complete mandatory Char Dham biometric registration verification. Arrive in the scenic apple-valley town of Barkot (6,950 ft) by late afternoon. Check into your deluxe hotel or riverside resort. Attend an evening briefing on high-altitude hydration and trek preparations. Dinner and overnight stay in Barkot.
Depart early at 5:00 AM toward Janki Chatti (8,700 ft), the roadhead for Yamunotri.
The Sacred Trail: Begin the 6 km paved uphill trek tracing the surging Yamuna gorge. The concrete trail features handrails, rain shelters, and medical aid posts. (Ponies, palkis/sedan chairs, and pitthu baskets are readily available at fixed government rates for seniors or children).
The Holy Shrine: Reach the shrine complex at 10,797 ft. Pay homage at Divya Shila, a black rock pillar worshipped before entering the temple. Witness the bubbling thermal waters of Surya Kund (temperatures exceed 85°C), where raw rice and potatoes tied in muslin cloth are dipped into the spring and instantly boiled as sacred prasad. Take a holy dip in the lukewarm natural pools of Jamunabai Kund. Enter the sanctum sanctorum for darshan of the black marble idol of Goddess Yamuna.
Afternoon Return & Kharsali: Descend 6 km back to Janki Chatti. Walk across to the adjacent ancient village of Kharsali to visit the 1,000-year-old wooden-and-stone Shani Dev Temple, the sacred winter home of Goddess Yamuna. Board your vehicle for the scenic drive back to your resort in Barkot. Dinner and overnight stay in Barkot.
A relaxed buffer day to recover from the physical climb and safeguard against unexpected weather shifts or road maintenance. Enjoy a leisurely morning breakfast overlooking the Bandarpoonch range. Take light walks through pine-clad trails, explore rural terraced farms, or relax by the pristine riverbanks. In the afternoon, visit nearby heritage temples and local handicraft cooperatives in Barkot. Rest and recharge for the onward road journey. Dinner and overnight stay in Barkot.
After breakfast, check out from the resort. Begin the descent down the Yamuna valley along the national highway. Stop for lunch at a scenic viewpoint along the river. Arrive back in Rishikesh / Haridwar (or Dehradun Airport/Railway Station) by 5:30 PM, dropping off at your scheduled train or flight connections to conclude the yatra.
