Overview
Tour Itinerary
Health Protocol: Dedicate the entire day to complete bed rest. Your body must adjust to the sudden 3,500 m altitude jump to normalize arterial oxygen saturation. Drink 3 to 4 liters of warm water, oral rehydration salts (ORS), and herbal tea. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, or exertion. In the late evening, take a slow 15-minute walk around the hotel courtyard. Dinner and overnight stay in Leh.
Hall of Fame: Tour the museum curated by the Indian Army, showcasing the history, culture, and high-altitude warfare gear from the Kargil conflict.
Spituk Monastery (Kali Mata Temple): Visit this 11th-century Gelugpa monastery perched on a hillock overlooking the Indus floodplains.
Gurudwara Pathar Sahib & Magnetic Hill: Seek blessings at the historic Sikh shrine maintained by the Indian Army, then stop at Magnetic Hill to watch your vehicle seemingly roll uphill against gravity.
Sangam Viewpoint (Nimmu): Take in the contrast where the turquoise Indus River meets the mud-green waters of the Zanskar River.
Evening: Drive up to the white-domed Shanti Stupa in Leh to watch the sunset paint the Stok Kangri mountain range in hues of purple and gold. Return to the hotel for an early night. Dinner and overnight stay in Leh.
Diskit Monastery: Visit the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra, standing beneath the 106-foot open-air statue of Maitreya Buddha (Future Buddha) overlooking the river floodplains.
Hunder Sand Dunes: Proceed to Hunder and check into your deluxe camp or boutique cottage resort. In the late afternoon, explore the high-altitude sand dunes and take an optional ride on double-humped Bactrian camels native to the ancient Silk Route. Dinner and overnight stay in Nubra.
Pangong Tso (14,270 ft): Arrive at the shores of Pangong Lake by 10:30 AM. Walk along the crystal-clear waters, watching the lake's color transition from aquamarine to deep cobalt against the barren mountain slopes. Take photos at the famous shooting points and enjoy lunch at a local lakeside café.
The Return via Chang La: Depart Pangong by 01:30 PM to begin the ascent across Chang La Pass (17,590 ft), the third-highest motorable pass in the world. Stop briefly at the pass top for hot tea at the army facility. Descend through Karu and the Indus Valley, returning to Leh by early evening. Settle into your hotel for a celebratory farewell dinner. Overnight stay in Leh.
