Meet your SkyGlobals trek team in Manali early in the morning. Take a thrilling drive through 40 hairpin bends to reach the starting point at Jobra. Begin an easy 2-hour walk through thick forests of oak, pine, and birch trees alongside the Rani Nallah stream to reach the gorgeous riverside campsite at Chika. Overnight stay in tents.
Trek along the banks of the river, crossing a few chilly streams on foot (an exciting team experience!). Watch the tree line gradually fade away as you enter wide alpine meadows surrounded by towering snow walls. Arrive at Balu ka Ghera ("Bear's Den"), a flat, sandy river bed perfect for stargazing. Overnight stay in alpine tents.
The big summit day! Embark on a steady, steep climb over snow patches or moraine slopes to reach the top of Hampta Pass. Standing at 14,100 ft, look back to see the emerald-green Kullu Valley and turn around to see the intensely dry, stark, and barren mountains of Lahaul. Descend sharply down a steep, rocky trail to reach the peaceful camp at Shea Goru. Overnight stay in tents.
Embark on an easy, downhill 5 km trek through massive mountain passes to the road head camp at Chatru. Board your dedicated 4x4 or SUV vehicles and take an unforgettable dirt-road drive to Chandratal (The Moon Lake). Spend time soaking in the reflections of the massive mountains inside the turquoise blue waters of this sacred crescent lake. Drive back to Chatru camp for a celebratory final dinner.
After a relaxed breakfast, pack up and hop into the vehicles. Cross the iconic Atal Tunnel—one of the longest highway tunnels in the world at this altitude. Arrive back in Manali by 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, concluding your epic crossover expedition.
